Muslims condemn ‘abhorrent’ London attack

-

Muslim leaders of the internationally recognised organisation Minhaj ul Quran at various branches in Scotland have expressly condemned the terrorist attacks in Westminister during their Friday sermons.

Other imams are also expected to express shock and horror throughout the UK.

Muhammad Shahid Babar, a leading scholar of Islam at the Rutherglen Minhaj ul Quran centre, during his Friday sermon said: “When an attack happens in London it is an attack on all of us. Islam totally condemns violence of any sort. This is abhorrent to us.”

Shaykh Rehan Ahmed Raza is a young scholar of Minhaj ul Quran Glasgow and president of Muslim Youth League, an organisation which represents and works with young British Muslims and declared “a jihad against Isis” in 2015 which received international coverage in deterring people from joining or supporting any acts of terror.

He said: “Perpetrators of such heinous atrocities seek to create animosity amongst the majority of the peace-loving citizens and create a division to disturb the very fabric of our society which believes in coexistence, peace and democracy.”

Minhaj ul Quran Scotland, which condemned the attacks and offered prayers for the victims, issued a further statement praising the Met Police, the Prime Minister and the mayor of London in dealing with the barbaric attacks of terror.

The leader of Minhaj ul Quran, Dr Tahir ul-Qadri, from Pakistan, in 2010 wrote a comprehensive, 600-page judgement fatwa against terrorism which completely dismantles terrorists’ violent ideology from the original sources of Islam. The Pakistani Islamic cleric has also launched a first-ever counter-terrorism curriculum to combat the message given by terrorists in an effort to help stop young people becoming radicalised.
