Wishaw wrestler wants team
Premier British Wrestling returns to Lanarkshire this weekend and one Wishaw wrestler is aiming to steal the show.
Declan Early, better known as Krieger, is one half of the PBW tag team champions along with partner Lou King Sharp. The duo are up against Mike Bird and Wild Boar from rival promotion Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) on a what is sure to be a night of high drama at Airdrie Town Hall. Krieger, who has been wrestling for the past four years, said: “The British wrestling scene is booming at the moment and we have plenty of great matches for the fans.
“It’s my local show and the team we are going up against it are going to be tough.”
Kreiger, 22, grew up watching WWE legends The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin during the company’s Attitude Era in the late 1990s.
But since then he immersed himself in the British wrestling scene including stars such as Nigel McGuinness, Doug Williams and Zach Sabre Jnr.
Wrestling on this side of the Atlantic is on the rise once again with ICW breaking its attendance record last November by staging a show at the SSE Hydro and the renowned World of Sport wrestling show set to return to ITV later this year.
Krieger, who has taken a year out froms tudying primary teaching at Strathclyde University to pursue his wrestling dream, added: “The dream is to do this full time.
“A few of the guys can earn a good living from travelling around the country.
“My family and girlfriend Abbie are very supportive. I met Abbie at one of our shows so she gets it.
“PBW has sold out a few of our shows and we’ve had a lot more people coming to our wrestling school. People coming to the show can expect a great night of wrestling.”
Premier British Wrestling is live in Airdrie Town Hall this Saturday, April 8. Doors open at 7pm.
