Lizsteps downas council chair

Liz Arbuckle has stepped down from her role as chair of the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Sports Council after three years.

She has volunteere­d with the sports council for 17 years and will continue as a member.

In that time, Liz has volunteere­d at the Internatio­nal Children’s Games and Commonweal­th Games while also carrying out her role as Asda Toryglen’s community champion.

Known as a very hands-on chairwoman, Liz helped organise the annual sports awards that have become a feature of the Rutherglen and Cambuslang sports diary.

The sports council are now looking for new members as well as someone to take on the role of chairperso­n.

Their AGM will take place on Sunday, May 28, at 1pm in the South Lanarkshir­e Lifestyle centre in Eastfield., Glenside Dive, Eastfield, Rutherglen G73 3LH .
