Glas­gow Coun­cil seat sup for grabs

Vot­ers in To­ry­glen, Castlemilk, King’s Park and Croft­foot will also go to the polls to­mor­row, Thurs­day, to elect rep­re­sen­ta­tives on Glas­gow City Coun­cil.

The city is cur­rently a Labour ma­jor­ity but the SNP will be con­fi­dent of tak­ing con­trol hav­ing won ev­ery con­stituency at the last Gen­eral and Scot­tish elec­tions.

Castlemilk and Croft­foot lie within the Linn ward while King’s Park and To­ry­glen are in the Lang­side ward.

Across the city, res­i­dents will elect 85 coun­cil­lors from 23 wards. A to­tal of 209 can­di­dates will par­tic­i­pate from 12 par­ties along with 14 in­de­pen­dents. The can­di­dates are: Linn ward (elect­ing four mem­bers) - Euan Block­ley (Con), Max Brodie (Sol­i­dar­ity), Mar­got Clark (Lib Dem), John Cowan (UKIP), Mal­colm Cun­ning (Lab), Alan Digney (Green), Glenn El­der (SNP), Paul Le­in­ster (SNP), Cathy Mil­li­gan (Ind), Mar­garet Mor­gan (SNP), Bobby Pol­lock (Ind), Alan Ste­wart (Lab).

Lang­side ward (elect­ing four mem­bers) - Su­san Aitken (SNP), Jane Collins (UKIP), Archie Gra­ham (Lab), Thomas Had­dow (Con), Kevin Lewsey (Lib Dem), Steven Liv­ingston (Lab), Anna Richard­son (SNP), Ron­nie Steven­son (STUSC), Tanya Wisely (Green).
