Call for action on speeding drivers
Concern growing over major commute route
Gordon Mackay, head of roads and transportation at South Lanarkshire Council said: “Residents of Richmond Drive have been in contact with the council in relation to the speed and volume of traffic and a request for traffic calming was made.
“These matters have been investigated and residents have been advised that the accident history does not justify the need for traffic calming features.
“We understand that Police Scotland have recently undertaken enforcement action.
“Traffic volumes in the area have been influenced by the recent works on the M74 as well as the closure on Cambuslang Road.
“As a result of the investigation the council do not intend taking further action.”
