Char­ity drive­had Specs ap­peal

Gen­er­ous staff and cus­tomers at a Ruther­glen op­ti­cians raised £240 for Comic Re­lief.

Cus­tomers vis­it­ing the Spec­savers store in Stonelaw Road had the chance to do­nate to the cause by buy­ing their own pairs of nov­elty red wav­ing hand glasses.

Spec­savers Ruther­glen store di­rec­tor Peter Beaton said: “We’re re­ally pleased to have raised money for the cause.

“Cus­tomers re­ally got into the spirit of things and en­joyed wear­ing their nov­elty specs.

“Thank you to every­one who do­nated – it’s very much ap­pre­ci­ated.”

The col­lec­tion lasted un­til March 24 - the night of Comic Re­lief 2017.

So far, Comic Re­lief 2017 has rasied over £73 mil­lion for good causes.

Spec­savers in Ruther­glen joined stores na­tion­wide to sup­port Comic Re­lief to help poor and vul­ner­a­ble peo­ple liv­ing tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa as part of a drive to raise at least £250,000 for the char­ity.

Spec­savers has been a Comic Re­lief part­ner since 2015.
