Norman Rae

Liberal Democrats

Dr Norman Rae is a native of Cambuslang and went to West Coats Primary School and Cathkin High School.

This led on to a PhD in Geography at Glasgow University and a master’s degree in librarianship at Strathclyde. He currently undertakes freelance writing/information work. He is a well-known member of Rutherglen Repertory Company, a former volunteer with Cambuslang Credit Union and was election agent for Rutherglen constituency at the recent Scottish elections. Norman is secretary of Rutherglen constituency Liberal Democrats.

Liberal Democrats are pushing for an action plan for reviving the Main Street area, the appointment of dynamic, professional staff to lead it and the involvement of local people with ideas and vision. We need fresh and innovative thinking to bring more variety back to the street and fill empty shops.
