Halfway and District The McPike 1+1 Pairs took place at Halfway and District where 26 teams took part.

The eventual winners were Gordon Shanks and Martin McIlree who defeated Jim Stoddart and Watty Islip in the final.

The Clyde Refrigerat­ion Invitation Rinks will take place on Saturday, June 3, the draw will be made on Monday night so any teams still to enter are encouraged to do so before then.

The LBA first round ties took place last Thursday and Halfway made it through in the singles, triples and fours. Martin Wilson beat Wrangolm Hall 21-13 in the singles. Alan Lorimer, Stewart Dunsmore and Martin McIlree beat defending champions Whitefield in a cracking game.

John Smith, Charlie McIntyre, Stephen McIntyre and David Fergus beat Uddingston.

In the second round tomorrow, Thursday, the singles are at Motherwell and the triples and rinks are at The Murray in East Kilbride.

The senior fours lost against The Murray last Thursday and the U45’s were defeated by Dalzell last Saturday morning.

The seniors, ladies and gents Bowls Scotland qualifiers begin this week, results to follow next week.

In the WOSWBA ties the triples and pairs lost their first round games. The singles will play on Monday, May 29.

There were mixed fortunes in the RDBA first round ties last Tuesday.

Watty Islip lost in the singles but Alan Barr and John Kerr made it through to the next round of the pairs. The triples got a bye.

The pairs and triples played their quarter finals at Burnside on Tuesday night hoping to make it through to next Tuesday’s semi -finals at Rutherglen.

The Gilliland League team kept up their 100 per cent winning record with another convincing win over St Leonards last week. This week’s opponents are the unbeaten Croftfoot. An away win would virtually assure Halfway of a place in the final with a game to spare.

Next week the opponents are Templeton at home. Jack Wilson will represent the club in the RDBA under 16s and will play his quarter final tie at Kirkhill on Saturday morning at 10am.

The seniors started their District 26 league campaign on Monday and managed one win against Uddingston and two losses against Larkhall.

David Fergus was part of the Lanarkshir­e South team that bounced back from losing their opening game to defeat Stewartry at Raploch on Saturday. This week they host Ayrshire South at Garrowhill.

Burnside

The Monday night aggregate game was unfortunat­ely brought to a halt by heavy rain.

In the Gilliland League, Dougie Johnston, Scott Stevenson, Christophe­r Allan and Marc Stirratt (skip) again did the club proud by producing a convincing win against Tollcross.

The last week also saw success for Burnside in the Glasgow Bowling Associatio­n games with the pairs, triples and senior four’s all producing victories. The club would like to say a very well done to them all.

The under 45s team proved that youth can also be victorious when they won their game against Kirkhill.

The one cloud in a successful week was when both teams in the Cambuslang and District Senior four’s failed to deliver a victory.

The draw has now been completed for the nominated pairs ties and are now displayed on the club notice boards. The club would like to remind everyone to arrange their ties as quickly as possible.

Work has now started on the tennis courts and everyone at the club is looking forward to the renovation­s being completed.

This Friday’s North Eastern League game is against Riddrie BC.

Rutherglen

In the R and D championsh­ip last Tuesday the singles, triples and senior fours progressed to the next round. The singles play this Tuesday evening at Kingswood, triples at Cambuslang and the senior fours play at Templeton in the afternoon. Rutherglen host singles and pairs on Tuesday evening.

The club pairs and senior fours won through to the next round of the GBA championsh­ips last Wednesday. The pairs play this Wednesday evening at Woodend and the seniors in the afternoon at Hawthorn.

In the Bowls Scotland district play-offs the triples, senior singles and senior fours A and D teams won last Thursday. This Thursday evening the triples are at Cambuslang, the senior singles at Kirkhill and in the afternoon the seniors A and D teams are at Camphill and Hampden respective­ly.

The Monday evening aggregate game was abandoned due to heavy rain. This Saturday the club has the very enjoyable 4-3- 2-1 competitio­n.
