Recycle your clothes for great new looks

-

Like many people, the phrase “I have nothing to wear”, whilst having a wardrobe filled with fabulous clothes, seems to pass by my lips more often than I would like.

We all get stuck in a rut some days, wearing the same few clothes over and over, or always pairing the same top with the same trousers.

This month I thought, instead of looking at the new up and coming styles, I would look at some of the existing styles that have been kicking around for a few years, which I bet a lot of you will already have at the back of your wardrobe.

If not, you can grab these items in most high street stores for under £15.

I chose four very general items to style up summer 2017, a checkered shirt, black ripped skinny jeans, a pair of fish net tights and a khaki jacket. If you are interested in any of these styles, you can buy similar styles locally in stores such as Peacocks and I Love Fashion.

To kick start, what I like to call ‘Danielle’s look-book of super easy summer styles’, I have chosen a grungy style.

I paired ripped skinny jeans with a simple black vest top and chunky suede ankle boots. To add a little touch of 2017 I added a pair of fish net tights underneath the jeans. This gives this classic look a celebrity inspired touch.

This very simple, but stylish outfit, is so versatile, you could wear it casual or dress it up for a night out with the right jewellery and a set of heels. This outfit can be taken from day to night instantly.

The second classic item I decided to investigate was the checkered shirt. Now I guarantee we have all had a plaid shirt sitting in our wardrobe at one time or another, we have either worn the life out of it or never worn it at all.

The checkered shirt is a fabulous little piece. It brings a blast of colour to even the most casual of outfits. I found this lovely over sized and paired with black and white trainers.

This is a great look if you are at a BBQ or out shopping. To accessorise this look try adding a high waist belt to nip the shirt in and flaunt your figure.

Recently I have seen a lot of khaki military style jackets around. They are stylish, light and easy to pack. I love wearing khaki, it is a colour that suits everyone and goes with literally anything, giving any item of clothing a little touch of cool.

I matched this jacket with the red plaid shirt dress to show just how the colours blend together so perfectly, even on such a busy print. Last but not least, on this beautiful morning in Rutherglen’s Overtoun Park, I decided to do the unthinkable, mix and match.

We are all guilty of complaining of the little amount of clothes we own, when in actual fact mixing and matching our outfits creates an entire new look. Take my final look. Our stunning girlie shirt dress has now turned into a trendy tie up shirt. I paired this with the ripped skinny jeans and trainers to create a fun, casual and very stylish outfit.
