Phone firmsset outmast plans
Cambuslang Community Council has been informed of proposals for a 57-foot telecommunications mast near the junction of East Greenlees Road and Murdoch Avenue.
The group received notification from CTIL and Telefonica about the proposal, which is for a radio base station.
According to CTIL and Telefonica the mast will improve both 3G and 4G coverage in the area.
Six existing masts at locations around Cambuslang were also considered but deemed inappropriate.
A further five sites were also in contention.
In a letter the community council was told: “The proposal comprises the installation of three antennas within a shrouded headframe, two 0.3m diameter dishes on a 17.5m high monopole and three equipment cabinets and a meter cabinet on the ground adjacent.”
The community council was set to discuss the issue at its meeting last night, Tuesday.
It is understood a planning application could be made this week.
