Phone firms­set out­mast plans

Cam­bus­lang Com­mu­nity Coun­cil has been in­formed of pro­pos­als for a 57-foot telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions mast near the junc­tion of East Green­lees Road and Mur­doch Av­enue.

The group re­ceived no­ti­fi­ca­tion from CTIL and Tele­fon­ica about the pro­posal, which is for a ra­dio base sta­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to CTIL and Tele­fon­ica the mast will im­prove both 3G and 4G cov­er­age in the area.

Six ex­ist­ing masts at lo­ca­tions around Cam­bus­lang were also con­sid­ered but deemed in­ap­pro­pri­ate.

A fur­ther five sites were also in con­tention.

In a let­ter the com­mu­nity coun­cil was told: “The pro­posal com­prises the in­stal­la­tion of three an­ten­nas within a shrouded head­frame, two 0.3m di­am­e­ter dishes on a 17.5m high mono­pole and three equip­ment cabinets and a me­ter cab­i­net on the ground ad­ja­cent.”

The com­mu­nity coun­cil was set to dis­cuss the is­sue at its meeting last night, Tues­day.

It is un­der­stood a plan­ning ap­pli­ca­tion could be made this week.
