Twelve Rutherglen and Cambuslang schools were facing the prospect of being left in limbo if a freeze on council tax bills was to go ahead in the coming year.

The first planning committee of the new council had given the green light to over 80 new homes in Rutherglen.

The first step towards a 30-home development in Langlea Road in Cambuslang was taken by councillors by the estates committee.

Only four vehicle activated speed signs were to be added to the road network in Rutherglen and Cambuslang - out of a total of 160 on South Lanarkshire overall.

Cambuslang’s Summerfest event was a hit - and organisers were already planning the next year’s event.
