St Colum­bkille’s Church will host a Class­rooms for Malawi Cel­e­brate Sum­mer fundraiser this Satur­day, June 24 from 7.30pm un­til mid­night. The event will be held in St Colum­bkille’s Church Hall and will in­clude a quiz. Tick­ets are £5 on the door. They are also of­fer­ing a chance to have a cuppa ev­ery day of the week af­ter 10am mass. There will be a hot cup of tea or cof­fee and roll with ba­con or sausage. All pro­ceeds will go to­wards keep­ing the church hall func­tion­ing. The church are also ap­peal­ing for vol­un­teers to con­trib­ute some time on Thurs­day morn­ings to clean the church. For a trial pe­riod this will hap­pen weekly af­ter 10am Mass on Thurs­days. Croft­foot United Free Church hold T In The Croft ev­ery Fri­day from 10am un­til noon. They also hold Lunch at the Croft on the first Fri­day of the month from 11.30am to 1.30pm. En­try is £1.50. Stonelaw Church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Mon­day to Satur­day from 10.30am un­til 2.30pm. Tea and cof­fee is avail­able, along with home bak­ing and a sec­ond-hand book stall. Stonelaw Church holds 30-minute ser­vices in the Meeting Place on the first Wed­nes­day of ev­ery month at 2pm. King’s Park Parish Church has a range of ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer over the next week. It will run from10am un­til noon and all are wel­come to at­tend. Fern­hill and Cathkin Church’s Tues­day tea room is open each week from 9.30am un­til 11.30am. The Fit­ness Fol­lies keep fit class meets ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 10.30am. Ruther­glen West and Ward­lawhill Church friend­ship cafe runs ev­ery Tues­day from 10am un­til noon. Re­fresh is a new ven­ture at Croft­foot Parish Church. Run­ning ev­ery Fri­day from 2pm to 4pm, Re­fresh will have a num­ber of ac­tiv­i­ties for peo­ple to par­tic­i­pate in, from hand mas­sage to play­ing pool, and with op­por­tu­ni­ties to re­ceive spir­i­tual read­ings and prayer for any need. Tea and cof­fee will be served. Ev­ery­thing is free of charge and all are most wel­come. Burn­side Blair­beth Church con­tinue to hold Messy Church ser­vices each month. The Messy Church ser­vices are aimed at fam­i­lies, and usu­ally start with an hour of crafts and games, where those tak­ing part might get messy. It is then fol­lowed by a cel­e­bra­tion with a Bi­ble story and singing, fin­ish­ing with a meal to­gether. Cam­bus­lang Parish Church’s “Paw-some Cof­fee Morn­ing”, in aid of Cats Pro­tec­tion, will take place in the small hall this Wed­nes­day, June 21 from 10am- noon. All are wel­come to go along and en­joy the fun. Castlemilk Parish Church hold com­mu­nity meals on the first and third Fri­days of the month. Soup, pizza and pavlova are avail­able from 6pm to 8pm along with live mu­sic. The church also has var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties on­go­ing. See http:// castlemilk­ for de­tails. Vol­un­teers are needed to serve at a lunch club at St Bride’s Church, which is planned to be­gin af­ter the sum­mer. The St Bride’s Bi­ble study group meet ev­ery Thurs­day night at the St Bride’s Parish House at 7pm, all wel­come. A men’s shed has started up in Ruther­glen Bap­tist Com­mu­nity Church. The ob­jec­tive of men’s shed is to give men who have time on their hands a place to meet. A work­shop area will be built at one end of the­hall, with a re­lax­ation area avail­able to sit and chat and put the world to rights over a cup of tea. Flem­ing­ton Hall­side church holds a com­mu­nity cafe each Thurs­day from noon un­til 2pm. The women’s guild meet on Wed­nes­days at 7pm and friendly hour for the el­derly takes place on Thurs­day af­ter­noons at 2pm.
