Cathkin High girls and boys bag medals

Cathkin High School came out on top in the La­nark­shire League fi­nal by de­feat­ing Trin­ity High 4-0.

In a bit­ter­sweet twist, Cathkin goal­keeper Rob­bie Hem­frey was un­avail­able to play in the game on June 5 as he had just been called up to a Scot­land youth squad.

Mr Hal­dane, one of the coaches of the Un­der-16 foot­ball team at the Cam­bus­lang school, was de­lighted with both Rob­bie and the boys’achieve­ments.

He said:“Coach­ing and train­ing with these play­ers has been a plea­sure as they play so well and they de­serve noth­ing less than they are get­ting as a re­sult of their hard work, de­ter­mi­na­tion and team spirit. They are truly a credit to the school.”

The girls’foot­ball team also per­formed well in this cam­paign by win­ning a to­tal of 23 games to fin­ish in sec­ond place in the High School League.

Re­ceiv­ing sil­ver medals for their hard work were Rahhma Jaleel, Lau­ren Gor­man, Natasha Camp­bell, Mor­gan Muir, Lau­ren Thomp­son, Jayne Hef­fer­land, Tie­gan Green and Rachel Crich­ton.

Miss Pater­son, the girl’s foot­ball coach, has been de­lighted with the ef­fort the girls have shown.

Miss Pater­son added:“The girls have shown an im­pres­sive level of ded­i­ca­tion this year and I think they will def­i­nitely be bring­ing the tro­phy back to Cathkin High next sea­son. Well done girls, keep up the great work.”
