Cathkin High girls and boys bag medals

-

Cathkin High School came out on top in the Lanarkshire League final by defeating Trinity High 4-0.

In a bittersweet twist, Cathkin goalkeeper Robbie Hemfrey was unavailable to play in the game on June 5 as he had just been called up to a Scotland youth squad.

Mr Haldane, one of the coaches of the Under-16 football team at the Cambuslang school, was delighted with both Robbie and the boys’achievements.

He said:“Coaching and training with these players has been a pleasure as they play so well and they deserve nothing less than they are getting as a result of their hard work, determination and team spirit. They are truly a credit to the school.”

The girls’football team also performed well in this campaign by winning a total of 23 games to finish in second place in the High School League.

Receiving silver medals for their hard work were Rahhma Jaleel, Lauren Gorman, Natasha Campbell, Morgan Muir, Lauren Thompson, Jayne Hefferland, Tiegan Green and Rachel Crichton.

Miss Paterson, the girl’s football coach, has been delighted with the effort the girls have shown.

Miss Paterson added:“The girls have shown an impressive level of dedication this year and I think they will definitely be bringing the trophy back to Cathkin High next season. Well done girls, keep up the great work.”
