Lang Thistle prize night
There was a hint of sadness amongst the celebration at Cambuslang Thistle’s annual player of the year night.
The 98/99 side, who were the original squad the club was founded on, reflected on their final season after work commitments meant there was a struggle to field a team.
Although they had a decent season at under 19s with some good football being played, results just did not go their way and they played the majority of the second half of the season with 11 to 12 players.
The 2004 team won half of their matches during their first 11-a-side season as well as reaching the semi-finals of the divisional cup and Mossend Tournament. Their hard work and determination has seen the introduction of a second team added at that age group.
Ollie Chung and Cameron Carmichael picked up the player’s player of the year awards.
