The body of a Cambuslang man who went missing on Friday has been found in Argyll.

Ian Saunders was recovered from Loch Fyne near to Inveraray by the coastguard on Monday afternoon.

The 51-year-old, from the Kirkhill area of the town, had been reported missing by his family on

the evening of June 30.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland saisd: “Around 12.20pm hours on Monday, July 3, 2017, the body of a man was recovered from Loch Fyne near to Inveraray by members of the Coastguard.

“Although a formal identification has still to take place, it is believed to be that of Ian Saunders who had been missing from Cambuslang since Friday. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and relatives of Mr Saunders have been informed of the discovery. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Police launched an appeal for information when Ian did not return home on Friday evening. He was last seen by colleagues around 8.20am at The Mineral Yard in Clarkston. Shortly after arriving at the property, he left again.

Police had searched CCTV footage in a bid to trace Ian’s white BMW 118 and conducted inquiries in the St Andrews area of Fife as Ian had often visited there.

There was however, no trace of him until the sad discovery on Monday.
