10 dog attacks on posties since 2012
Ten posties have reported being attacked by dogs in Rutherglen in the past five years.
Three of the incidents took place in the last financial year, 2016/17.
But in Cambuslang, postmen and women face a much easier time, with no attacks reported in that period.
The figures were released by Royal Mail last week to highlight their fifth annual Dog Awareness Week, which ended on Friday.
Last year alone there were over 2,400 attacks on posties across the UK, 231 of which were in Scotland.
Research proves attacks rise during the school holidays, and Royal Mail is keen to spread awareness among pet owners.
Rob Jenson, Royal Mail operations director, said: “Some of these attacks have led to extremely serious and life changing injuries and this is unacceptable.
“While the number of dog attacks on postmen and women has fallen in the last year, the numbers are still far too high.
“Our postmen and women need to be able to deliver the service they provide to communities across the UK, without the risk of injury.
“This is why this campaign is so important.”
