Newtech support inhubs

-

Residents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang could soon take advantage of digital hubs to help with the change over to a fully digitalised Universal Credit system.

Community Links South Lanarkshire host digital hubs at two venues in Rutherglen and Cambuslang.

The group held an event last month to discuss how their hubs could help those on low incomes make the most of the internet and its opportunities in saving money, securing employment, and accessing important government and health information.

Volunteer Mark Whitehead said: “I know from my experience of volunteering that there are too many folks who cannot take advantage for a whole range of reasons from not being able to afford home access to a lack of skills and confidence.”

“I am sure we can all play a part in changing this situation so that all residents of South Lanarkshire regardless of age can get online and reap the benefits.”

There are hubs at Whitlawburn Resource Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am till 4pm and at Number 18 on Farmeloan Road on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am until 1pm.
