Popular LEGO exhibit adds extra dates
LEGO fans now have an extra four weeks to catch the Brick City Exhibition in New Lanark after organisers extended the run.
The opening weekend at the World Heritage Site was sold out, and on the back of strong ticket sales, the exhibition – due to finish on August 9 – has been extended until September 10. Brick City is a celebration of some of the world’s favourite buildings and urban icons including the Colosseum in Rome, St Pancras Station in London and L’Arc De Triomphe in Paris, recreated solely using LEGO Bricks. Each piece has been designed by Warren Elsmore, a professional LEGO Brick artist.
Evelyn Whitelaw, New Lanark events and exhibitions officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Brick City exhibition to New Lanark to share with the community.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to view these awesome structures, to join in the fun with our wide range of activities and build their own LEGO brick creations!”
The exhibition includes a display of over 60 fantastic models made from an estimated half-a-million LEGO Bricks.
There is also be a ‘Self-led Play Area’ where visitors are able to have fun building their own LEGO creations within a set session time.
Visitors can also book to take part in one of the LEGO Robotics Workshops.
Accessible sessions are available on July 13 and August 3, 9-11am. These quiet and sensory friendly morning sessions will not be open to the general public (however extended families of children with autism are most welcome to join as part of a group), making them more suitable for visitors with autism and additional support requirements.
There is a very limited capacity for these sessions so tickets must be booked in advance.
Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children aged 3-15. Concessions and a family ticket are available.
Entry is free for children under three.
