Halfway and District Bowling Club regained The McGinlay Cup from Cambuslang in their annual friendly match.

Last Saturday saw the Halfway gents travel to the greens of their local rivals having been whitewashe­d the previous year. The visitors eventually won 4-2.

The Balloted Pairs will take place on Saturday at a later time than advertised. It will be a 1.30pm start.

The third round of Lanarkshir­e League games took place last Friday night and both teams only managed to pick up two points out of six in tough games. The Division 3 team were at home to Newmains and Division 10 were away to Blantyre.

The final round of games before the holiday break takes place tonight, Wednesday. Division 3 travel to Quarter and Division 10 are at home to Hamilton Caley.

In the RDBA Triples League, Halfway suffered two defeats against Kingswood. This week’s opponents were Cambuslang before they play Whitefield next week.

In the Monday morning seniors league, the Section 2 team got two points out of four against Whitefield. The Section 3 team got the same result against Red Deer.

David Fergus was part of the Lanarkshir­e South team who defeated Ayrshire North in the quarter-final of the Andrew Hamilton Trophy last Saturday. They will now face West Lothian this Saturday in the semi-final. The game will take place at East Lothian Co-Op. The final will take place at Crieff the following Saturday with Dumfriessh­ire facing Midlothian in the other semi-final.
