Man de­nies eight charges in­clud­ing eye goug­ing

A Croft­foot man faces eight charges in­clud­ing hir­ing three taxis with­out in­tend­ing to pay and eye goug­ing a driver.

Jamie An­der­son de­nies hir­ing the taxis from East­vale Street, Fin­nieston Street and Cath­cart Po­lice Of­fice in Glas­gow, all to his home on Castlemilk Road, with­out pay­ing a to­tal fare of £31.20. The 23-year-old, while on a jour­ney from Cath­cart Po­lice Of­fice to his house, is be­lieved to have re­peat­edly kicked the per­spex par­ti­tion sep­a­rat­ing him­self and the taxi driver and there­after at­tempt to kick open the rear ve­hi­cle door.

He is then said to have as­saulted the driver by push­ing his fin­gers into the man’s eye and punch­ing him on the head to his in­jury at Menock Road, Croft­foot.

On a jour­ney be­tween Fin­nieston Street and Cath­cart Po­lice Of­fice, An­der­son is claimed to have shouted, swore and kicked a ve­hi­cle.

He was charged for do­ing the same be­tween the po­lice of­fice and his home.

The man is also said to have shouted, swore and made ho­mo­pho­bic re­marks dur­ing a jour­ney from his house and Cath­cart Po­lice Of­fice.

An­der­son de­nies all charges against him and is ex­pected to at­tend trial at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on August 4 at 10am.
