Court hearsof police attack

A Rutherglen man has denied kicking a police officer and stamping on another.

Daniel Paul Richards, of Greenhill Court, is alleged to have behaved in an aggressive manner whilst also shouting and swearing on Rutherglen Main Street and in a police vehicle on March 4, 2017.

He is then said to have made his body limp and thrown it to the ground, tensed his upper body and flailed his legs in a bid to resist or hinder the officers.

Richards, 42, was further charged with kicking a constable on the body and stamping on the other assisting him at Cathcart Police Office.

The accused pled not guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 5 and is due to return to court on November 13.
