£11Kbenefitsscamisdenied
A Cambuslang woman has denied committing benefit fraud totalling £11,865.
Evelyn Skeoch, from Gateside Avenue, pleaded not guilty to two charges when she appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 11.
The 49-year-old is charged with failing to notify South Lanarkshire Council of a change in her circumstances, namely that she had savings in excess of the prescribed limit between April 2013 and July 2016. Her alleged failure to do so meant she received £10,127 in housing benefit to which was not entitled.
She is also accused of failing to tell the Department of Works and Pensions about those savings and received £1,738 of income related employment support allowance which she was not entitled to. That charge also related to a three-year period between 2013 and 2016.
Skeoch will return to court for another hearing on July 26.
