Events for everyone

Particp8 Overton will hold their summer gala day on Saturday, July 29.

Running from 1-4pm, the event at North Halfway Hall on Graham Avenue promises to be a great occasion for all those who go along.

Particp8 secretary, Jim Walker, said: “We’re hoping the weather will be kind to us this year as we have a fun-filled day planned to entertain the residents of Cambuslang East and everyone is welcome to come along.

“CamGlen Radio will be on hand to make sure the day goes with a boogie beat.

“We also have the climbing wall for our potential mountaineers of the future and move the goalposts where our local football stars will strut their stuff.

“For people of all ages, shapes and sizes we have our sumo wrestling, a bit of harmless fun, and if we can find enough willing volunteers we will have our tug-owar competition, which is always lots of laughs.

“For the less energetic we’ll have the ever-popular petting zoo for our animal lovers and also pony rides for our budding jockeys.

“Bouncy castles are always popular with our younger kids and this year we’re trying out new equipment.

“We’re all very excited about that with some volunteers hoping to try them out first.”

Organisers still hope to add some more attractions to the bill.

Most of the activities are free but there is a small charge for the pony rides.

Particip8 Overton put on a number of events throughout the year and Jim said they needed other people in the community to get involved.

“Our fun day events, fireworks display and Christmas events are great fun but it does take a lot of manpower and we’re always looking for volunteers to ensure that they can continue into the future.”
