Live music and stalls

- Douglas Dickie

Residents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are being invited to enjoy a fantastic family fun day at Cambuslang Park.

The Friends of Cambuslang Park group is hosting its annual gala event on Saturday, August 12.

A variety of free attractions will include pony rides, inflatable fun, face painting and the Bunny and Co petting zoo.

The group has also secured a climbing wall this year, as well as keep fit instructors with boot camps and pound fit.

Members of the emergency services are also expected to attend, including the fire brigade, the police and Cambuslang First Responders.

Camglen Radio and Universal Connections have also arranged for local bands to play in the amphitheatre so there will be lots going on in the park.

Bands booked to perform include popular Rutherglen duo, The Miss’s, Mosa Funk Club, Jackal Trades, Bigg Taj, Harry Vander and MB Legacy Band.

As well as the entertainment, a host of stalls will be set up selling home baking and second hand goods while the tombola offers locals the chance to win a prize.

Friends of Cambuslang Park ask that residents keep an eye on their Facebook page as the event gets nearer as some attractions may be subject to change.

Three portable toilets have been secured for the day and refreshments stalls will also be available to keep people fed and watered.

Donations buckets will be available for anyone wanting to support the Friends of Cambuslang Park group.

The organisation’s chairman, Edward Cais, said: “Fingers crossed we get some sunshine.

“We hope to see everyone there.”

The event will happen at the Cairns Road entrance.
