John becomes a full-time Jag
A former Rutherglen school pupil has signed a full-time contract with a Premiership club and has already made an appearance in the first team.
John Kelly penned a contract with Partick Thistle after impressing academy coaches during his time with the club’s youth side Thistle Weir.
The teenager, who left Trinity High at the end of the school year, led the under 18 football team to a league and Hannah Cup double.
He was also named the under 17 player of the year for Thistle Weir in April before he came on as a substitute in the first team’s pre-season friendly at Dumbarton.
Meanwhile, on the international front John gained caps for Scotland’s schoolboy side who competed in the under 18 boys Centenary Shield.
He started at centre back for the Scots in three of the four matches, against Ireland, England and Northern Ireland.
