It’s parking mad there

-

Our story about allowing South Lanarkshire Council the power to penalise people for parking on pavements instead of police provoked plenty of debate on our social media sites this week. Here is what you had to say:

“The problem is there is no place to park. You are afraid to leave your place at your own door. Nice big grassy bit on Mill street, to turn into a parking space, It is only used for dog fouling.”- Margaret Brown

“About time. Far too many inconsiderate drivers seem to think parking on pavements is acceptable.”- Murray A. Nix

“Parking on pavements should be a police matter, the driver should be hit by a heavy fine and lose their licence for life. Footpaths are pedestrians not cars. I’m sick of seeing mothers with prams and the elderly having to risk life and limb because of these lazy inconsiderate swines.”- Tam Morris

“What about the real problem of people who don’t live in a block of flats parking in our spaces and leaving us with none?”- Alisdair Wood.

Our story about dog owners allowing their pets to foul on graves in Westburn Cemetery also sparked debate.

“I’ve seen a few people allowing there dogs to do it. Absolutely horrible, no respect at all.”- Suzanne Richardson

“Terrible. Letting animals do that. No respect.”-Yvonne Bain

“It’s a disgrace to see the owners standing there behind a grave stone letting their dog fouling. We should name and shame them, you see this a lot in Rutherglen.” - Elizabeth Bain

“Disgusting. Dogs should be barred from cemeteries if owners are not picking up their dirt.”- Lesley Colligan

“It’s shocking, my mum and nana’s grave is the same and when the council cut the grass they smash the flower pots every single time and cover the headstone in grass. My daughter has complained but the council don’t care.” - Mags Mcluckie
