Harvey’s out to end bad run

Glencairn manager Willie Harvey believes there is no team better for his side to end their bad run of form against than Cambuslang Rangers.

The Celsius Stadium outfit travel the short distance to Somervell Park this weekend on the back of five defeats in six games which included Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Super First new boys Darvel.

According to Harvey, a “disgracefu­l” first half was followed by a much improved second 45 minutes which helps Glens’ confidence ahead of the first league derby between the pair since 2009.

And despite losing the last fixture 2-1 to The Lang in the Sectional League Cup earlier this month, the Glencairn boss is certain his players will rise to the occasion in what he thinks is the most important derby for a while.

Harvey said: “There is a confidence issue and we need to get a confidence boost. We just need to start winning games and I’m sure we will soon.

“I’m always confident. You don’t become a bad team overnight, the players need to step up and be counted. And to be honest, Cambuslang is the best game we could have asked for because it means hopefully the players will step up to the mark with a good attitude.”

Dale Simeon’s second-half brace was the difference between the teams when The Lang edged out their local rivals last time out.

But their former coach, George Fotheringh­am, is set to make his return to Somervell as part of the Glencairn coaching staff this weekend to give his new club the inside knowledge on Paul McColl’s team of unbeaten stars.
