Golf day raises £1,200 in memory of Kit

-

Warmhearted staff and suppliers of a Cambuslang company have raised £1,200 for children’s charity Cash for Kids in memory of their late colleague and friend.

Staff at SIG Technical Insulation decided to hold a special golf day in memory of Kit Brennan, who passed away on July 5 last year.

Kit, branch director at the firm from 1997 to 2016, was a keen golfer so it was seen as a fitting tribute to host a golf event to raise money for Cash for Kids.

The event, which was held on July 5 at Bothwell Castle Golf Club, saw nine teams play, with Derek Colquhoun - Kit’s golfing buddy - crowned the overall winner.

Cathie Mitchell, branch director, and Ricky Masson, regional director for Scotland at SIG Technical Insulation, both decided to hold the event in memory of Kit and in the company of Kit’s family.

Cathie said: “Kit was a very dear friend and he touched the lives of everyone who met him.

“We all wanted to remember Kit and I knew that he would love the idea that a golf day was raising money for such an important charity as Radio Clyde Cash for Kids.

“Thanks to everyone who took part and who made the day such a success.”

Debbie Fraser, regional charity manager for Radio Clyde Cash for Kids, said: “This is a very generous donation from the staff at SIG Technical Insulation.

“To remember their friend by raising money to help vulnerable children in the west of Scotland is a really kind gesture.”

A successful auction saw staff at neighbouring company AB2000, also a longstanding friends of Kit’s, win tickets to Old Trafford to see Manchester United.
