Glencairn boss Willie Harvey insists he is not worried about his side’s bad run of form after suffering derby day agony.

The Celsius Stadium gaffer was upbeat with The Glens’performance despite the loss to Cambuslang which was their sixth defeat in seven games.

Harvey however, reckoned his side more than matched their local rivals and were unfortunate not to take at least a point back to Rutherglen.

He said:“If we don’t start winning games in the next few weeks then I’ll start to worry. I’m the sort of person to look on the positives.

“I said to the players, Troon lost their first five games of the season and went on to win the league a few seasons ago. This league is mental and there will be a few shocks I think.”

He continued:“It was one of those games where every mistake we made we were punished.

“The first goal was definitely a penalty, I had no complaints with that. Craig McGregor has let the ball bounce and has caught Callum McRobbie when he goes to clear it. But he knows himself that you can’t go to kick the ball at head height when you are in the box.

“I was very aggrieved with the second goal because Ryan McArdle was fouled out on the wing and the players have stopped to wait on the referee to blow his whistle. Then Cambuslang have ran in and scored. We shouldn’t have stopped, you always play to the whistle.

“But I was happy with the boys performance and I would probably go as far as saying that is the best we’ve played this season.

“I’m sure Cambuslang would have saw it differently but I thought we were the better team. I thought they were holding on towards the end and they didn’t cause us many problems a part from the two goals.”

The Glens aim to get their first points on the board at home to Kilsyth Rangers this weekend.

Harvey commented:“It doesn’t matter who we play now, all the matters is getting the win. Folk will look at us and say we are the easiest team in the league because we are bottom. That is not the case. We are a wounded animal and we’re hurting.”
