Date set for next WASPI meeting

- Jonathan Geddes

The next meeting of pensions pressure group WASPI will take place on Saturday, September 16.

The group, who cover the Glasgow and Lanarkshire area, are also looking for new volunteers.

They will be having a campaign update and help session to assist women with DWP complaint letters, with MPs and MSP’s also attending.

The branch is run by Anne Potter, who stays in Burnside.

WASPI was formed as a reaction to UK legislation accelerating the timetable for pension change by two years.

It means the state pension age will reach 65 for women by November 2018 and 66 by 2020.

WASPI’s complaint has centred on the fact that the information regarding these changes was poorly conveyed, meaning many women were unaware the changes were happening.

It will take place at the Glad Cafe on Pollokshaws Road on Saturday, September 16 from noon until 3pm. Anyone wanting more information can email Anne at waspiglas73@ gmail.com or visit http:// www.waspi.co.uk/glasgowlanarkshire.
