Camby climber’s best in Scotland
A Cambuslang climber became a Scottish youth champion at the weekend.
Caitlin Connor, 14, was the fastest of 15 competitors at the International Climbing Arena near Edinburgh where she claimed the Scottish Speed Climbing Championship crown.
The Stonelaw High School pupil, who hopes to reach the world youth championships set to take place in Europe next year, raced to the top of the walls at Ratho to add the title to her long list of climbing accolades.
Her dad Mick was delighted with Caitlin’s progress in the sport.
He said:“The Scottish Youth Championships are only once a year and Caitlin was competing in two of the three events, lead and speed. She came seventh out of 15 in the lead part but was over the moon to win the speed competition.
“To be named Scottish champion is fantastic.
“She is an all rounder who climbs inside, outside and on ice and she’ll be at the GB championships in October at Sheffield.”
