Readers reveal who they’d come dine with

Who would be your ideal dinner guest?

- Murray Spooner

Last week a Cambuslang primary school teacher enjoyed a taste of TV fame after winning an episode of Come Dine With Me.

St Charles’ Primary teacher James Kane won £1,000 on the Channel 4 show, impressing his fellow guests with his menu.

The camera crew followed five complete strangers who took turns hosting what they consider to be the ultimate dinner party.

And while most may or may not have a good idea of what they’d cook at their event, almost everyone we asked in Rutherglen could quickly round off their ideal dinner guest.

Ray Scanlon of Rutherglen, said: “It would have to be somebody rich, somebody Scottish like Ewan McGregor. I really enjoy his films.”

Helen Bell from Cathkin said: “I’d choose my friend Lorraine MacMillan. We have been friends since high school. She’s a good laugh.

“She is originally from Cambuslang but she now lives in Leicester. I’m going down to see her soon.”

Jasmine Buchanan, a pupil at Loch Primary, would invite an American pop superstar to her dinner party. “It would be Ariana Grande,” she said. “She’s my favourite singer. I’d ask her about her music.”

Meanwhile, Frieda McKechnie from Burnside wanted her friend May Gilmour to join her.

She said: “I would have to choose May. She’s all the company you need.

“We’ve not seen each other in a while and we’d have such a laugh together.”
