Countdown is on for Bark in the Park event

Fun dog show

- Edel Kenealy

Friends of Cambuslang Park and Project 31 will be holding their annual Bark in the Park event this Sunday.

The fun dog show is open to all dogs and has a range of categories including best puppy, best leadwork, best young handler and dog most like their owner.

There will also be a number of dog friendly stalls and representation from a number of animal charities and organisations.

Activities include a treat treasure trial for canines, guess the dog’s age, Total Recall and for children, a host of canine themed arts and crafts.

Now in its fourth year, the event continues to be very successful with a great turn out of local owners and their four-legged friends.

Lorna Bamford, Project 31 manager, said: “Bark in the Park really is a fantastic community event. We always have loads of fun and it’s a lovely way of bringing different people who use the park together.

“There are plenty of activities for dogs and their owners so everyone should be kept busy.

“We’re hoping to be basking in the autumn sunshine and find some great dogs to bask in the glory of winning our different categories.”

No pre-registration is required for the event, which runs from 1.30-3.30pm at the Cairns Road entrance of the park.

Categories are free to enter although donations are always welcome.

Bark in the Park is open to all dogs but owners are asked to ensure they are not aggressive to people or other dogs.
