Council cash cow?

-

Readers reacted to our story about potential 20mph speed limits on Rutherglen and Cambuslang residential streets. Here is what you had to say: “They have no way of enforcing these speeds so it’s pointless as usual.”- Lesley Kane

“That should help increase pollution in the area.”- Elaine Nicol

“Just what streets are being used as ‘rat runs’? Evidence please. Just another council cash cow idea.”- Valerie Rettie

There was also a reaction to our story about Royal Bank of Scotland asking a customer if they would recommend its Burnside branch to a friend just weeks before it closes:

“I’ve been sent this email twice and gave a zero to that question. There must surely be a need for this branch because every time I’m in there is a queue out the door.” - Scott Pollock

“RBS should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Hell mend them if their customers change to different banks. They’re making it impossible to bank with them with the amount of closures they have.”- Fiona Macfarlan

Finally, there was reaction to our story about the lack of football facilities in Rutherglen and Cambuslang:

“We also have one of the most successful running clubs in Scotland with the harriers and we have to go to East Kilbride to find a running track for the kids. The pitch in the picture above would be perfect for a football facility surrounded by a running track.”- Iain Crawford

“Cambuslang and Rutherglen are the forgotten people as far as South Lanarkshire is concerned. I’ve been speaking to David Buchanan and we are going to get together and see what can be done for the whole area. We have been speaking to one councillor who is taking a great interest in helping us out. We possibly could have the worst facilities in the UK.”- Campbell Hughes
