Rutherglen and Cambuslang Men’s Shed meet in Rutherglen Baptist Community Church, 72 Greenhill Road, Rutherglen, G73 2SS.

Call in any Tuesday or Thursday between 10am and 3pm where you will be sure of a warm welcome.

The focus of the Men’s Shed movement is to provide men who are retired or out of a job with a place to meet; an opportunit­y to share and pass on skills and enjoy the banter of the workplace.

A range of activities are available.

Men can work on their own project or hobby or work with others.

The Shed is where men meet to benefit themselves and their community.

The workshop area is now fully operationa­l.

There is a separate social area where men can relax and set the world to rights over a cup or two of tea.

The tea room is open each week from 9.30-11.30am.

The Fitness Follies keep fit class meets every Wednesday at 10.30am. Flemington Hallside Church hosts a community cafe each Thursday from noon until 2pm.

The Women’s Guild meet on Wednesdays at 7pm and friendly hour for the elderly takes place on Thursday afternoons at 2pm. On Thursday, October 26 the national award winning Renfrew Burgh Band will hold a concert in Toryglen Parish Church at 7.30pm in aid of church funds.

Tickets will be available at the door.

A bus has been organised to allow those in the Toryglen and Rutherglen area to attend the Reformatio­n 500 service in Holy Trinity Church, St Andrews on Tuesday, October 31.

There will be a short time to explore the town and have a bite to eat before the service starts at 5.30pm when the preacher will be the Rt Rev and Rt Hon Rowan Williams.

It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Entry is £1.50. Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday from noon until 2pm for Thoughtful Thursdays, which provides quiet time away from the hustle and bustle.

Tea and biscuits are available for £1. Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the first and third Fridays of the month.

Soup, pizza and pavlova are available from 6-8pm along with live music.

The church also has various other activities ongoing.

Rutherglen West and Wardlawhil­l Church’s ways and means committee will host an autumn coffee morning on Saturday, October 7 from 10am until noon. All welcome. The £2 entrance friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon. Refresh is a new venture at Croftfoot Parish Church.

Running every Friday from 2-4pm, it has a number of activities from a hand massage to playing pool and opportunit­ies to receive spiritual readings and prayer for any need. Stonelaw Parish Church is to hold a new course on the Bible.

Living Faith: exploring the essentials of Christiani­ty is a course about what Christians believe, and what it all means.

There will be five sessions, each taking place at 7.30pm on Thursday nights, starting tomorrow, September 28.

Stonelaw Church’s Cafe@The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 2.30pm.

Tea and coffee is available, along with home baking and second-hand books.

The church holds 30 minute services in the meeting place on the first Wednesday of every month at 2pm.
