Fashion in the Window is a glass act

- Edel Kenealy

A week-long celebration of fashion at Rutherglen Exchange culminated in an event with a difference as Ruglonians became mannequins for an afternoon.

Fashion in the Window saw shoppers model the latest autumnal looks in the window of Peacocks on Saturday.

The event was hosted by Reformer columnist Danielle Jean, who selected looks for local men, women and children, who modelled the coveted clothes in window displays.

The fashion stylist was also on hand to offer advice to the many locals who turned out to enjoy the event.

Danielle said: “Peacocks is all about creating styles for real people, for all different shapes and sizes. This is one of the things I love most about this store, it creates a very friendly and relaxed shopping experience.

“I was delighted to be asked to come along and host the final day of Fashion Week in Rutherglen as I work closely with the shops in the arcade to bring all my readers the latest trends and advice. It certainly was a day to remember.”

Peacocks was just one of several stores to be included in Fashion Week, with Kids Talk, Shelter Scotland, Allan M Tod Opticians, Rouge and Warren James all hosting events.

Warren James took centre stage on Timeless Tuesday when staff gave away free fizz and chocolates, plus the chance to win a brand new necklace from the autumn range.

Wardrobe Wednesday saw Shelter Scotland wardrobes filled with Peacock’s latest pieces and Thrifty Thursday saw The Salvation Army show locals how to dress on a budget.

And on Free Fashion Friday shoppers were also given the chance to win an item of clothing worth £20 or more every hour from 12-3pm.
