Bully Wee hit by late sucker-punch

-

Clyde gaffer Jim Chapman was frustrated with his players who failed to see the game out and conceded a controversial penalty kick in injury time.

Cowdenbeath ended a 10-hour goal drought in their 1-1 draw at Broadwood where Clyde had taken the lead through substitute Smart Osadolor with 15 minutes left.

And when the Fifers were denied a penalty 10 minutes from time when Jack Breslin handled on the line, it looked like another blank day for Billy Brown’s side.

However, referee Craig Charleston pointed to the spot when Swann was tripped by Scott Ferguson and after Jack Breslin was dismissed for his protests Harvey Swann sent the spot-kick home.

Bully Wee boss Chapman said:“Dare I say it, whenever Clyde look comfortable then you start to worry. It was the same last week, we looked comfortable and lost three goals and we didn’t look under any pressure today apart from our slackness in possession.

“It was very poor and well below the standards we had set.

“The penalty looked to be a dive and outside of the box.

“We had the game won and should not have forced the referee to make a decision.

“The players are remorseful but remorse won’t bring back three points. They can put their hands up but it’s done now.”

Central Park manager Billy Brown said: “We were denied a definite penalty and I was beginning to think it was not our day again. We have secured a point away from home and we are a better team than people think.”
