Connor makes switch

- Murray Spooner

Rutherglen Glencairn have secured the signing of another player from their local rivals along with two more new recruits.

Following the capture of Liam Gormley’s signature, wide midfielder Connor Brannigan has followed him out of Somervell Park after his brief spell at Cambuslang Rangers.

The 22-year-old sustained an injury at the start of pre-season and failed to make it into Lang boss Paul McColl’s plans.

Prior to that, Brannigan was a member of the Tower Hearts under 21s team who won the West of Scotland Under 21 Premier League for the past two seasons, under current Glencairn coach George Fotheringham.

Also joining Brannigan at Rutherglen is left- sided defender Craig Palmer.

He returns to the club for a second spell, having been part of the Super League Division One winning squad in season 2009/10.

Palmer, 31, has also had spells with Beith Juniors, Petershill and Arthurlie.

He has been recovering from a serious injury which threatened to end his career a year ago, and has been training with the club since pre-season.

Central midfielder Jordan Leyden has appeared for the club as a trialist in The Glens’ three recent wins over Kilsyth, Larkhall and Kirriemuir and he has now signed an official deal.

Former Cambuslang Rangers and Glencairn midfielder Jamie Macleod has put pen to paper with Fauldhouse United . The Reformer can also confirm Cameron Lawson has joined Lanark United from Cambuslang.
