Sheriff court round-up

-

A Rutherglen woman defrauded the Department of Work and Pensions and South Lanarkshire Council of more than £22,000.

Janean Allardyce was sentenced to a community payback order of 130 hours of unpaid work after pleading guilty to two counts of fraud covering a three-year period.

She admitted failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions and South Lanarkshire Council that her husband, William Allardyce, was in employment and living with her at her Glenside Drive address.

She therefore received £13,852 of Employment Support Allowance and £8,535 of Housing Benefit to which she was not entitled to.

Allardyce admitted to the charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court on October 11 and was ordered to complete the unpaid work within six months. A Cambuslang man has pled guilty to assaulting police officers and being in possession of an open bottle of tonic wine.

James Millsopp had Buckfast on his person, shouted and swore in Tabernacle Lane on October 10, 2015.

The 48-year-old then obstructed officers by tensing his body and struggling with them before attempting to headbutt one of them and kicking another on the leg.

Millsopp, a Benmore Tower resident, admitted the charges at a court hearing on October 9 and was given a community payback order of 100 hours to be completed within six months.
