Grant awards
Community groups in Rutherglen and Cambuslang have cashed in to the tune of £3,350 thanks to South Lanarkshire Council.
Members of the local area committee approved the five community groups covering a range of organisations. These were:
James Aiton Primary Parent Council, Cambuslang, £800 for equipment.
Scotland Malayalee Association, Cambuslang, £750 for an outing, entrance fees and equipment.
Lochbrae Social Committee, Rutherglen, £500 for an outing, entrance fees and equipment.
Cambuslang and Rutherglen Unemployed Art Club, £850 for an outing, administration and publicity.
Rutherglen and Cambuslang Crime Prevention Panel, £650 for equipment and administration costs.
The council operates its community grants scheme to support community groups and voluntary organisations.
Applications are invited throughout the year and need to be supported by a constitution, audited accounts or annual income and expenditure accounts, a bank statement and confirmation the group will adhere to the conditions of the grant.
Area committees are handed £25,000 at the beginning of the financial year. So far this year, Rutherglen and Cambuslang councillors have approved just over £14,000.
