Dynamo’s brutal cup blow to Vale Gers
Amateurs Round-Up
Vale Rangers took the lead, a brilliant cross from Jordan Kirkwood, who headed home for his first of the game.
It did not take long though for Castlemilk Dynamo to strike back, and they quickly went 2-1 up in this West of Scotland Sunday Cup tie.
It was at this point when Castlemilk Dynamo ran away with the game, as the Vale Rangers goalkeeper was sent off, for a deliberate handball outside the box, and the floodgates opened.
Andrew Cunningham, scored four goals, and was well supported by a super hat-trick from Connaire Dawson.
The other goal scorers were Dom Larkins, James Miller, Alan Kane, Craig Cairney, Greg Twaddle, and the brilliant Alan Semple.
Semple said: “It was a really strange game for our first ever Sunday West of Scotland Cup match.
“We went 1-0 down inside the first minute but we worked our way into the match.
“The pivotal part of the game came just before half-time when Andrew Cunningham was clean through on goal, lobbed the ball over the keeper who deliberately handled outside the area leaving the referee no option but to send him off.
“In the second half we ran riot. It was a pleasing enough performance and we go into a huge league game next week against good rivals Northend.”
Elsewhere in the same competition, Rutherglen Burgh will progress through to the next round of the cup after a crushing 8-1 victory at Red Staars Baagrade.
In the Mulheron Scoffolding Services Premier 2, Rutherglen Rovers went down 4-3 at Albion, but performed well and will take the positives into their upcoming matches.
