Real-life issue tackled in drama of homeless

On Any Given Night

- Jonathan Geddes

A new hard-hitting production about homelessness and living on the streets is coming to Rutherglen later this week.

On Any Given Night will be taking place at the town hall tomorrow night, October 26.

It tells the tale of four very different people brought together through homelessness and is a followup to the acclaimed Lanes and Doorways. The cast includes Ross McAree and Liam Lambie, who starred in the original hit production, along with Anne Marie Feeney and Laura Lovemore.

Liam, of Airdrie, wrote the play and its highly successful predecessor. He said: “Although the show tackles serious subjects, such as addiction, loss and abuse, it is peppered throughout with heart-warming moments and hilarious one-liners.

“It follows the group as they come together ready to survive another gruelling night on the streets of Glasgow, armed with only their wit and banter.”

It is a true story of survival and friendship,. Despite being a follow-up, it is a standalone show, although Liam’s character Stevie Patterson is making a return appearance from Lanes and Doorways.

Liam added: “Stevie had been on the streets for many years, but the other characters are new and the show very much focuses on telling the story of these people and the circumstances that led them to their current situation.”

Ross added: “We are very excited about On Any Given Night and telling a story that definitely deserves to be heard.”

Tickets cost £12 or £10 for concessions by visiting www. sllcboxoffice.co.uk or by phoning 0141 613 5700.
