Coaltown Daisies are in full bloom
A Fife folk duo are set to be the latest performers at the Acoustic Nights at the Meeting Place series of gigs at Stonelaw Church.
The Coaltown Daisies are made up of Vivienne Bern Lynzy Moutter, who both singsand play guitar, ukulele, percussion.
The group play folk, soul and Americana music, and will play this Friday, October 27.
The group’s harmonies, lyrics and dynamic arrangements add to their exciting performance and both have become well-known for their audience interaction, as much a part of their shows as their musical performance.
Described as‘spell-binding’, ‘spine-tingling’ and‘ breath-taking’ in various reviews, the Coaltown Daisies have performed at an abundance of folk clubs and festivals.
They are well respected in the Scottish music scene and their debut album and recently released EP features a composition that was chosen as the original theme for World Whisky Day, winning them the coveted CalMac Culture Music prize.
The talented twosome have also been praised by the likes of Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook, who called them ‘brilliant’and by the English singersongwriter Boo Hewerdine who hailed them as having“great songs”.
They’ll be joined on Friday night by the Mairs Family Band, who will support them. The show starts at 7.30pm, and doors open at 7pm. Entry is a £5 donation fee. Children go free and filter coffee tea and home made cakes are included.
There will be limited seating so come early to avoid disappointment.
