Store staff line up to raise cash for charity

Dancers roll into town to help boost breast cancer coffers

- Jonathan Geddes

A group of dancing queens popped into Asda Toyglen recently, as the store continued to fundraise for Breast Cancer Care.

And staff at the supermarket are now appealing for other locals to chip in and help them raise even more cash as part of the Tickled Pink campaign.

The store’s most recent event saw a visit by the Loose Boots line dancing troupe, a group of women all aged over 80, who performed while helping to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Elizabeth Arbuckle, Asda Toryglen community champion, added: “As community champions for Asda, we are proud to be pink both in the store and in the local community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“We loved having Loose Boots in store to help raise money for such a fantastic cause. Knowing the money raised will help both charities to be there from day one for anyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis will inspire us to go the ‘extra mile’ when it comes to fundraising activities across Scotland this year.”

The store has raised thousands of pounds for Tickled Pink in recent years, and customers can help support this year’s fundraising efforts either by making a donation online, or in store or by purchasing Tickled Pink products available throughout October.

Launched in 1996, Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised over £55 million to support breast cancer charities Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.

Through fundraising activity in October, Asda will help to achieve improved care, support and information for anyone affected by breast cancer, as well as funding vital research to help stop women dying of the disease in the future.
