Dynamo advance in cup

-

A ruthless Castlemilk Dynamo made light work of Rumours AFC by cruising to a stunning 14-0 victory in the Sunday Central League Cup.

The scoreline in the competition’s first round was a season best so far for a club in fine form.

Dynamo’s goal scorers were Andrew Cunningham and Dylan McKinnon, scoring two each, and goals from Connaire Dawson, Jonno Spence, Derek Reid and James Miller. The two hat-trick heroes were Craig Cairney and Alan Kane.

Dynamo ace, Alan Semple, said:“We had a comfortable, convincing win on Sunday. There was lots of goals and some good football on display.”

Cambuslang Football Academy endured very different fortunes as they were thrashed 7-0 by HSV.

Cambuslang manager Tam Graham commented:“It was a bad day at the office for us, we didn’t show up at all.

“We had a feeling that HSV were going to be strong and disciplined and we set ourselves up to try and prevent that. However, our plan just didn’t work and that was down to our attitude towards the game.

“We just didn’t look up for it at all and HSV were more hungry. All credit to HSV. They are a very good side and they play really good football and I expect them to be challenging in their respective division this season.

“After the game the message to the players was to learn from this and we need to bounce back as we have a tough test next week in the third round of the Sunday Amateur Trophy against Westside from Edinburgh, who on paper have a magnificent record. We will need to be back to our best to match them.”

Meanwhile, Rutherglen Rovers lost 3-0 to Haldane United.

Assistant manager Raymond Brady said :“We were up against a decent and well organised team. It was always going to be tough. We played well at times and gave them some problems.”

Rutherglen Burgh were on the wrong end of an eight-goal thriller with Brunswick who won 5-3 and Castlemilk United beat PFD 3-1.
