South Lanarkshire Council has confirmed details of the two Christmas light switch on events in the towns – and both will see residents enjoy the music of one of the UK’s biggest musical acts.
Take That tribute band ReTake That have been booked to perform in both towns.
Rutherglen will be first on Saturday, December 2.
STV presenter Hayley Matthews will host the event which will be filled with entertainment, games and giveaways. The fun starts at 2.30pm with the lights on at 4.30pm.
Twenty-four hours later it will be Cambuslang’s turn to get into the Christmas spirit.
Radio DJ Gina McKie will be on hosting duties, again from 2.30pm with the lights going on at 4.30pm.
Both events are free and will include a funfair, performances from local dance and theatre groups and a festive sing-a-long.
As ever Santa will make an appearance to turn on the lights and snow will be guaranteed with the switch on triggering a fall of flakes.
