Gardener attacked at work

Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Douglas Dickie

A gardener was attacked by a group of men carrying weapons as he went about his work in Rutherglen.

The 30-year-old victim was working alongside a 36-year-old colleague at an address on Brownsdale Road at around 1.30pm on Saturday.

They were approached by a group of five or six men who then seriously assaulted the victim.

The worker was injured during the incident and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for an injury to his back, then later released.

His workmate managed to run away and was uninjured.

Detectives are now hunting the men responsible.

The only description of the group at this time is that they were wearing dark coloured clothing.
