Rutherglen doesn’t need more of the same.

By voting the first Green Councillor into South Lanarkshire Council you will get a new point of view.

One that values our environment and the need for inclusive public consultation, so we do not see projects like the Cathkin Relief Road being forced upon us.

The high levels of pollution and traffic on and around Main Street must be addressed and residents should have a voice on how this is tackled.

Our invaluable services such as Citizens Advice Bureau should be adequately funded allowing access to justice for the most vulnerable people in our community. The UK Government’s callous Universal Credit welfare reform and its shambolic role out will put increasing pressure on these precariously funded services.

The main parties bicker over parochial issues; us Greens have been talking about what’s really important.

We need a shift in housing policy, one where publicly owned green belt land isn’t sold off to the highest bidding property developer and we need investment in service for our young adults.

One extra councillor of any other party doesn’t change the dynamics of the council.
