Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

I’m asking for your first preference vote next Thursday because Rutherglen Central and North needs a Labour councillor who will stand up to the SNP and stop cuts to our local services.

I was honoured to be selected to be Labour’s candidate for the by election, and I have been out around the whole ward talking to people about what I will do if I’m elected.

It’s clear that we need someone from the area who will ensure Rutherglen always gets a fair deal.

For years, our council’s funding has been slashed by the government in Edinburgh which has simply passed down Tory austerity onto communities like ours. I know the impact that these cuts have had on Rutherglen: from simple things like overgrown pavements and policing cuts letting streets become rat runs, to the lack of affordable housing and cuts to care services for our most vulnerable.

My priority will be representing our area, both in the chamber of South Lanarkshire Council and in the community, working with community groups, residents’associations and businesses.

We need a champion for our community who will make real action for our area a genuine priority.

I promise to do exactly that.

We need a champion for our community
