Fire brigade attackers shame our community

-

Our story last week about fire fighters in Burnhill being attacked by yobs as they went to tackle a bonfire blaze left readers on our social media pages disgusted. Here is what you had to say: “Just what is it with these feral children? Their parents should be totally embarrassed and ashamed,” - Jacqueline Bickers.

“They’ll be the first on the phone when they have a fire too. I’d leave them to it, ”Tricia H McLaughlin.

“As a Burnhill resident, I want to apologise to the fire officer concerned. All the children/youths in my community are not like this. Most probably, parents have no idea what their kids are up to when they’re out and about. That is a separate issue and needs to be addressed. The days of going to a neighbour’s house and saying‘ your kid did x, y or z’ and having it dealt with are, sadly , few and far between.

We have a great team of community cops but they cover (on foot) Cuningar Loop to King’s Park. They can’t be everywhere at once,” - Kay Jay.

“No respect for the brave people who save lives, ”Evelyn Logue.

There was also plenty of chat about our story on the prospect of more house building in Cambuslang:

“This is the reason they can’t find an area for parking. SLC are too busy selling every bit of land for housing, affordable or not. They are a disgrace,”- David Lindsay.

“I’m all for affordable housing but SLC need to do much more in terms of infrastructure ie improving roads in/out of Cambuslang and doing something about the disgrace of a main street,” - Irene Proudfoot.

“Wonder what is meant by affordable because I can’t afford my affordable new home and that’s with two of us working,”- Linda Rankin.
